The buildings are framed but not yet lined. Every cable here has to be in the walls before the plasterers arrive. Anything missed either doesn’t happen, or gets done later in surface conduit at several times the cost.
The three buildings
What each one is, and what it does on the network.
A
The main home
The double-storey house at the front, plus the garage running down the south side.
- Three of the site’s four dwellings are in this one building.
- The owner’s home on the ground floor — master bedroom, living, kitchen.
- A studio in the rear half of the garage, with its own bathroom and laundry.
- The upstairs dwelling — three bedrooms, an office and a retreat, reached by its own stair from the back.
On the network: Its own 48-port switch and both access hubs, in a cabinet in the ground-floor passage.
B
The granny flat
The second small home at the rear of the block, on the north side.
- A self-contained two-bedroom dwelling.
- Kitchen, living, bathroom and laundry of its own.
- Let separately from the main house.
On the network: No equipment of its own — every cable runs the short distance to Building C.
C
BBQ, store & server room
The small brick outbuilding at the rear, on the south side.
- A barbecue and entertaining area, plus an enclosed store room.
- The store room is the server room — it is where the internet connection arrives.
- It holds the gateway, the core switch and the camera recorder for the whole site.
On the network: The head-end. Fibre runs from here to Building A; copper runs to Building B.

How to use these
If you are pulling cable: work from the building sheets. Each has a schedule of every position, how many cables it takes, what to label them, and where they terminate. The diagram at the foot of each sheet shows one strand per cable, so you can see what shares a pathway.
